Manga
This is one example of line drawings used in Japanese manga (comics) the art work is simple thin lines and bold black colour for all colours in the manga. The most famous manga get produced into anime (animation) with colours, moving backgrounds and fluent animation of the characters. Shading in manga is usually straight thin lines slightly spaced out so it looks more like rays of light. Most famous manga is directed at teens and older because of the complex stories and sometimes blood and gore. This image on the left is of the main character Naruto Uzamaki in the hit manga Naruto I chose this certain image to show a character design but most of the time in manga it includes dramatic shots and large scale drawings of fight scenes like the image below which still uses many thin lines to express explosions and speed. These images are created by the Illustrator Kishimoto MasashiMarvel comics
Marvel comics has changed in artwork greatly in the earlier years of Marvel the art work was quite simple and not very good structure for the characters and the way the scene changed wasn't ideal either, they use most lines for detail for example the hair and depth to things like rocks and muscles and mainly use thicker black lines to identify the characters by giving them an outline, this is shown with the Comic strip on the right drawn by artist Jack Kirby. Also there was a lot of text involved which bored the audience. There wasn't many complex colours just basic plus when objects are shaded they would be different colours which was actually a good effect sometimes. The newer comics are a lot more professional and artistic with high quality crisp pages and in detail colours. In the image to the right you can see that with spiderman, Marvels use of lines is greatly increased because of his costume but still manage to make it very detailed and use tiny lines for shading on the buildings to give a better look, they still give the characters a black line outline for definition of the character but not as thick. This was created by John Byrne.Character Design.
All character designs are first done in rough using thin lines and shades to gives them a rough idea and room for improvement. In this image to the left pixar have drawn up a timscale of age for the character in the film "up" created by the artist Josh Cooley. This gives the designers a good idea of what they are working with and how to change his looks in the movie. The line drawing uses many thin light lines because it's a rough drawing of the character there is mistakes. It's very simple shading using dark thick shading and also some thick lines in the same direction. The other character design shows how they need a full 360 degree view of the character to know fully what it looks like again they use very thin lines but in this picture it seems they've already tidy up the sketch. Also sometimes in character designs if the character has equipment or layers of clothes they will label them and analyse the sketch to give an understanding which gives a more in depth drawing of individual clothing etc. The bottom image is by an artist called Raymond Santos.Simpsons.
This type of line drawing is a bit different to the other because these are final renders which have been vectorised and shaded. The lines are relatively thick to give outline of he clothes and body parts. They also use cel shadings which really helps give a better 3D image to a 2D animation. There is also lines as you can see in the left image the smoke has curved lines inside as well to give separation between the shade and light and also in the water the lines separate the colours of blue for a better style.
Deer Warning.
This sign uses simple drawing designs and only uses three main colours (red, black, white) for easy reading of the sign. The triangle sign is gives a warning to the drivers so this symbol of a deer gives a warning that there maybe some around this area. The drivers can look at this sign quick and recognize it because of the use of simplicity and a obvious drawing of a deer.
No Motor Vehicles.
Elderly people warning.
This is a warning for drivers that there are elderly people crossing in this area. This symbol, I find is humorous because it seems a bit pointless to have a individual symbol of old people. The design is again simple and using the three colours red, black and white and also underneath in bold black font "Elderly people".Stop sign.

This sign is big a bold using only two colours red and white to give no distraction to the sign. The writing is in big bold font for notice and in a octagon shape with white outline then a thin red outline to define the edges.
Slip road Motorway sign
This sign is different from the previous signs because of its colour, blue and white instead of red, white and black. The sign contains four big bold arrows pointing to the way of the road. It's made very simple so its recognisable and easy to read.
Research of Object art.
Marcel Duchamp.
This is a very famous piece made by Marcel Duchamp in 1913, these images are of the third version because the other two where lost. This is his first "Readymade" which means a class of objects that he invented to question what is art and what Isn't, this I find brave to prove people wrong about art. The art it self it a non-functional machine which includes a bicycle wheel and a wooden kitchen stool, which were two mass produced products back then. By creating this and calling it art he changed the way people think about art and how people can also do other things in art as well. Duchamp when modified an object he called them a "Assisted Readymade" and said that this art was created as a distraction. This is a photo manipulation I did in the style of Marcel, I named it golf chair.
Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol was one of the most famous pop artists around the 1960's. His work was so different to any other artist and had a very psychedelic look to most of his work, using block colours and trendy looks. In the 1960's he was mainly famous for his advertisement achievements such as the "dole banana" and the "Campbell's tomato soup" as seen on the left. As you can see in this image that Warhol had uses very simple block colours of the original tin and made it into a cartoon like look, with the least amount of shading.
This is my drawing on Photoshop in the style of Warhol trying to keep as simple and using same type of object.
Haroshi
This is an more recent artist called Haroshi this is one of my favourite artist who uses objects in art because all his artwork is made with recycled skateboards. What he does is takes these skateboards sands and varnishes them down and then builds up sculptures mainly using the sides of the boards because of the mix of colours in them. Most of the sculptures are of body parts or shoes the images I chose where the hand and feet which show both vertical and horizontal build in the skateboard pieces to see the effect of both. This is the drawing I did in Photoshop to try and copy Haroshi's style.
Eduardo Paolozzi
This is "Bull" by Eduardo Paolozzi, it is made out of bronze metal sculpted into the shape of a Bull. He started art around the 1950s' where he made where totem like archetypes and plump robots and then in the 1960s' his art changed to sculpting brass moulds such as the "Bull". I like this image because of the imperfection and messy lumps on the body. The differentiation of colour as well is very little but reflects a great source of light to defines parts of the body.

This is the photo manipulation I did in the style of Eduardo Paolozzi by trying to blend a rust texture with a dog.
Claes Oldenburg
This is a Swedish sculptor named Claes Oldenburg who is extremely famous for his overly sized objects placed in fields and cities. This image to the left is the sculpture called "free Stamp". He always takes normal size objects and makes abnormally large but with consideration on how he places the object so here he has dug hole to make the stamp look moulded into the ground instead of just standing on top of the grass. The big bold letters "FREE" give a great metaphor and speaks to the pedestrians walking by.
This is my drawing on Photoshop I simply used a high r es background and a paper clip and blended them together in the style of Claes.Game idea.
Styles
This style is form the game Legend of Zelda it uses a lot of happy, cheerful, colours. This is also using cel shading which makes a 2D image, look 3D and more blending in with the surroundings of the game.
This game is called The Journey Its set in the desert so the game is filled with warm colours of brown and a water painting look that makes the game look flowing and more artistic.
Gameplay
This is a in game HUD of MW2 I chose this just because of the HUD (head up display), it has a great use of map work with an outline of the level and green arrows for the allies and red dots when the enemies shoot. The bottom part show the amount of bullets left in your gun and also how many grenades and secondary grenades who have which become very helpful when playing.
